Soccer Legends 2021: How the Supershot Meter Works and When to Spend It
Published · 2 min read
The meter
Under the pitch, on your side of the score, sits a ball icon that starts empty. It fills as the match goes on — touches, shots and time all count — and when it lights up, the supershot key (Z for Player 1, K for Player 2) stops being a dead key. Press it and your footballer's ability fires; the meter empties and starts filling again. In a normal-length match you get it once, sometimes twice, so where you spend it decides the game.
What the abilities do
Each footballer on the Friendly screen has an ability written under the portrait. Fireball is the simplest: the next shot turns into a flaming ball that goes through the keeper rather than past him, so it scores from almost anywhere with a clear line to the goal. Teleport moves the ball instead of you, which is a defensive tool as much as an attacking one — it gets the ball away from a crowded goalmouth in front of your own keeper as well as putting it in front of theirs. Other footballers carry their own versions, and the picture next to the name tells you which family it belongs to.
Two moments that pay
First: the ball at your feet, just past halfway, with the opponent behind you. A Fireball here is a goal nearly every time. Second: a corner of the pitch with the opposing footballer between you and the goal, which is exactly when a normal shot bounces back off a big head. A Teleport takes the ball out of that mess. The moment that never pays is the one right after kickoff, when the meter has just filled and the ball is in the middle with everyone around it.
Keeping the meter for the rematch
The meter does not carry over. A supershot you are still holding at the final whistle is gone, so in the last twenty seconds of a match you are winning, spend it anyway — it is free at that point — and in a match you are losing, spend it the first moment the path is clear rather than waiting for the perfect one.
